Heywood in Bloom collect 11 awards at Britain in Bloom North West awards

Heywood in Bloom has picked up 11 awards at this year’s Britain in Bloom North West awards.
Held at Southport Convention Centre, the group picked up seven awards on Wednesday 28 October and a further four on Friday 30 October.
Ellen Wintle Yates, Chairwoman of Heywood in Bloom, said: “All of these awards go to well deserving volunteer groups who put in many hours to make their area more attractive and available for community enjoyment. We are very proud of each one of these awards and congratulate every winner.”
Awards presented to Heywood in Bloom were:
- Mike Goldrick Windows & Blinds Ltd - Level 3 Developing
- Roeacre Court sheltered accommodation - Level 4 Thriving
- Smethurst Street community garden - Level 4 Thriving
- Cherwell Court sheltered housing - Level 5 Outstanding
- Heywood & District Angling Society - Level 5 Outstanding
- TOPS The Old Police Station - Level 5 Outstanding
- Friends of Hopwood Park - Level 5 Outstanding
- Heywood Distribution Park – Gold award
- Queen’s Park – Silver Gilt award
- Tops the Old Police Station – Gold award
- Heywood in Bloom – Silver Gilt award
Ellen added: “We would like to thank all those who took part in this year’s entries and all of the ‘helpers’ who gave us hours of their time.
“We would also like to thank Environmental Management Services for all that they do year round to ensure our entries are always up to scratch. The entry of Queens Park this year is evident of how much our environmental teams do to keep our town looking well cared for and attractive.
“Heywood in Bloom would like to thank all our supporters and our township councillors for their encouragement throughout the year.”
