Rochdale Training Annual Awards Ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall
Rochdale Training hosted its annual awards ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday (22 October).
The winners were:
- Mohammed Imran: First Year Engineering Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Steven Bardsley: BTEC Manufacturing & Electrical Certificate Leaner of the Year 2014/15
- Jay Uttley: City & Guilds Fabrication & Welding Certificate Learner of the Year 2014/15
- Adrian Dixon: Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Will Henry: Plumbing Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Carly Shand: Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Natalie Clegg: Advanced Administration Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Emma Balint: Intermediate Administration Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
- Paul Morris: Adult Apprentice of the Year Award 2014/15
The Mayor and Mayoress Surinder and Cecile Biant attended.
This year’s guest speaker was Gordon Birtwistle, Liberal Democrat councillor for Burnley Borough Council, himself a former Craft Engineering Apprentice and Government Apprenticeship Ambassador to Business.
Rochdale Training Chief Executive, Jill Nagy, opened the ceremony with a report on the training centres activities in the last year:
- The number of learners participating in 2014/15 grew by 8% to 2,670.
- 350 young people achieved an apprenticeship with Rochdale Training.
- 193 employed adults achieved a level 2 or 3 qualification.
- 768 adults attended pre-employment courses; 98% of these achieved their qualification and 36% progressed into jobs or further training.
- 151 school students completed engineering or construction work experience with Rochdale Training, with 17 achieving a Level 1 qualification.
