Date published: 02 November 2015

The Rotary Club of Rochdale East held a charity Brass n Folk evening in aid of Sailability on Friday.

The event was a sell out with honoured guests for the evening including the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale and the Mayor and Consort of Whitworth.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Whitworth Vale & Healey Brass Band and folk Group Hindle Wakes which included, Rotarian Ian Smith.

All money raised is going towards to provision of a Hansa Access 303 dinghy for use on Hollingworth Lake by disabled and limited mobility sailors.

Club President, Rotarian Graham Knox said: "The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who attended the event. The money raised on the evening added to funding already secured has allowed us to progress with the purchase of the dinghy.

"We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, those who took out advertising space in our programme and also Squadron Leader David Rimmer and The Air Cadets who were a great help on the evening.

"There has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes on this event and we would like to thank all those who have helped in this respect and in particular Rotarian Ian Sandiford who co-ordinated the event."
