Morrisons 'surprised' at Simon Danczuk's comments
Morrisons, the supermarket located on Kingsway, is taking a number of measures to clear up loose trolleys and says it is surprised at Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk's recent criticism given it has already explained to him the action being taken to attempt to resolve the issue.
Mr Danczuk recently criticised the supermarket for the amount of loose trolleys in the area and said that they must “clean up their mess”.

In response to Mr Danczuk’s remarks, a Morrisons spokesman said: “We are surprised at Mr Danczuk’s comments as we have explained to him that we are taking action to deal with this important problem.”
Morrisons states that it takes its responsibilities towards the local community and area very seriously and is working with Rochdale Borough Council to deal with the issue of loose trolleys.
The spokesman said: “A minority of customers are taking trolleys from the store and to prevent this affecting the wider community we are taking action. We hope that this reduces the problem of loose trolleys.”
To address the issue, Morrisons will:
- Increase inspections of the area outside the store to ensure trolleys are collected twice per day.
- Restore trolley locks on trolleys in store.
