Well-being fun day
Date published: 30 October 2015
Young people from the Health Action Champions group planned and organised a well-being fun day for the people of Rochdale. The aim of the event was to introduce people to the concept of well-being and provide a few techniques to maintaining positive well-being.
The event included card making, Lego mindfulness, information about five ways to well-being and free lunch.
The young people decided on this event because they noticed that mental health is a huge issue across the borough and they wanted to make a change.
The event was planned in partnership with RBUF, a mental health charity providing an independent voice for service users across the borough, and the support of GiveGetGo!, a project which introduces young people to volunteering.
Andrew Wastling, Well-being Officer for RBUF, said “Staff and service users at RBUF greatly appreciated the positive energy the Health Action Champions brought to the building. They are a credit to themselves, and the event was a great way of breaking down barriers between services and service users. It was well a planned event and we would happily invite them back to plan another."
