The Friends of Springfield Park (FoSP) group has been awarded an ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ award at this year’s Britain in Bloom, North West awards.

The award was given to the group in recognition of the work done by the members and supporters of the friends group.

The group picked up the award at a special ceremony at Southport Convention Centre on Wednesday (28 October).

David Logan, from FoSP, said: “The Friends of Springfield Park volunteer, charity group were really delighted and pleased to receive the second highest certificate for the Britain in Bloom, North West, ‘It's Your Neighbourhood’ award. This was won because of the terrific amount of work done by the members and supporters of the FoSP group.

“Naturally, this was helped, sponsored and supported by our ward councillors, Pat Sullivan, Jane Gartside and Ian Duckworth, as well as many other appreciative and supportive councillors from many surrounding wards in the whole Borough of Rochdale.

“We also appreciate the interest, help and advice given by many of the officers in the council, particularly in the Environmental Management Department.”
