Pure Gym takes on a 24 hour spin bike marathon for Annabelle’s Challenge

Date published: 28 October 2015

Customers and staff at Pure Gym Rochdale are taking on the 24 hour Spin Bike Marathon to help raise awareness and funds for Annabelle’s Challenge charity.

The marathon volunteers are hoping to raise £100 for the charity with the last bike spin due to finish at 5.00pm on Thursday 29 October.

Six-year-old Annabelle Griffin suffers from a rare and life-threatening condition, which leaves her mum and dad Jared and Sarah Griffin facing a daily battle to keep her safe as the slightest knock could result in going to hospital. She was diagnosed with incurable genetic disease vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vascular EDS) in December 2012.

Annabelle’s Challenge was set up to raise awareness of the life threatening condition to help support patients and families affected and to raise awareness with the public and medical professionals.

Ben Stansfield at Pure Gym first came across the Bury based charity when he met Annabelle and her parents Jared and Sarah at the Rochdale Marathon, 10k and fun run back in September; moved by the work the charity does and the desire to do a charity fundraiser Ben decided set up the marathon for Annabelle’s Challenge.

Jared said: “We are extremely pleased to have the support of and the team and their customers at Pure Gym helping to support our charity.”

Annabelle’s Challenge is currently raising money to fund a £25,000 project to host the UK’s first ever medical conference for vascular EDS scheduled for May 2017.
