Rezwan Hussain jailed for possession of class A drugs

Date published: 24 October 2015

Rezwan Hussain has been jailed after being found with drugs with an estimated street value of three million pounds.

Hussain (10/03/1989), of Clement Royds Street, Rochdale pleaded guilty of Possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and was sentenced to 11 years six months at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday 23 October 2015.

On Monday 23 March 2015, police made enquiries at a house on Clement Royds Street and upon returning to their police van they discovered two large bags containing over £3,000,000 worth of cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin.

A nearby address was subsequently searched and further class A drugs were recovered, along with approximately £216,000 in cash and drugs paraphernalia.

Although Hussain had left the house, he later handed himself in to police.

Detective Constable Craig Wallace of Rochdale division said: “Officers were already in the area at the time which spooked Hussain. He threw the drugs out of a window but unfortunately for him, they landed close to our police van. This was an excellent result and an example of how police are determined to come out on top when it comes to drugs within the community.

“We are continuing the fight to rid our streets of drugs but in order to do so, we need help from the public. I would ask anyone who may know where drugs are being sold or produced to contact police.

“We are currently looking for Imran Hussain (30/04/1982) who is wanted in connection with this incident and I would ask anyone who may know where he is, to call us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 4052 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
