Matthew Moss year 7s played their first rugby tournament on Thursday 22 October.
It consisted of three games, all full contact.
Other schools had players who participated outside of school however none of Matthew Moss players do and the only exposure to the sport has been within PE lessons and extracurricular clubs.
The first game was closely contested and the lads narrowly lost.
In the second game there was huge improvements in the tactics the lads used, everything was coming together and they won by two tries.
The third and final game was against Wardle, a team who are trained by the coach at Mayfield and have a large number of learners who play outside of school. They have played all of the schools in Oldham and to this date were undefeated.
The Matthew Moss boys did us proud and held Wardle to a 5 try all draw.
A special mention to Daniel Birley and Erik Raimundo who have been asked to take the next step within the sport and train / play with Mayfield.
