Open Day at Rochdale Sixth Form College

Date published: 21 October 2015

Rochdale Sixth Form College opened its doors to over 1,300 new visitors on the first of their 2015 open days last weekend.

The host of secondary school pupils and their parents/carers were given the opportunity to wander freely around the college, with staff and student ambassadors on hand to answer questions.

The day was full of interactive activities across different departments, such as the ‘methane bubbles’ and ‘whoosh bottle’ chemistry experiments. The college’s Faraday’s Coffee Shop was also open, serving refreshments and free tea and coffee to visitors.

Rochdale Sixth Form College also showcased some of their impressive extra-curricular offerings including the Student Union, Duke of Edinburgh Award and information on their Enrichment Programme.

Visitors were offered the opportunity to attend a welcome talk from Principal, Julian Appleyard, along with a talk and informative session from Vice Principal, Tom Fay, on the college’s Honours and Scholars’ Programmes.

Julian Appleyard, Principal at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “The open day was a huge success with record numbers of prospective students and their parents/carers visiting the College. We had some really positive feedback and look forward to welcoming the next intake of students.”

There is a second Open Day on Saturday 14 November.
