Liz McInnes supports breast cancer awareness work at Demesne Community Centre

Date published: 18 October 2015

Liz McInnes, Labour Member of Parliament for Heywood and Middleton, attended an event at Demesne Community Centre on Asby Close in Middleton to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of screening in helping to tackle the disease.

Ms McInnes MP said: "I was delighted to attend this fantastic event at Demesne and give my support to the excellent work Christine Abbott, Mal McCall, Sue Smith and many others are doing to raise awareness of the importance of breast screening.

"The staff and volunteers at Demesne do an amazing job throughout the year supporting and organising a wide variety of events and this was a fantastic example of the great things they do.

"All women need to be familiar with their own breasts so that we can know what is normal and quickly spot any changes that may need to be looked at by a doctor.

"If women would like more information about the campaign, I would encourage them to get in touch with Christine or Mal at Demesne Community Centre, and if anyone is at all concerned about any changes to their breasts they should speak to their GP. Being breast aware is the first step in tackling breast cancer and getting the right treatment as quickly as possible."
