Former teacher, Andrew Wilson, appears in court over sexual offences allegations

Date published: 17 October 2015

Andrew Wilson has appeared in court accused of sexual offences involving two young girls in the 1990s.

At the time of the allegations, Wilson, 47, was an English and Drama teacher.

He is accused of seven offences of indecent assault and four of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency. The offences are said to have started when one of the girls was 12-years-old.

The first set of indecent assault offences are alleged to have occurred in Littleborough, Rossendale and Northampton between July 1994 and May 1996. The four incitement charges also relate to Littleborough and Rossendale.

Wilson is also charged with two offences of indecently assaulting a second girl between the start and end of December 1995.

He was arrested in December 2014 following a complaint from a former pupil at Fearns High School in Stackstead.

The case has been sent for crown trial and Wilson has been remanded on bail to appear before a judge on 15 November.

He has been bailed on conditions that he does not have any unsupervised contact with anyone aged under 16 before his next court date or any contact with prosecution witnesses.
