Littleborough ladies donate £1,478 to Springhill Hospice

Becky Kershaw, Christine Buckley and Jakki Platt have donated £1,478 to Springhill Hospice after they raised the money following this year’s Dragon Boat Race.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, Becky said: “We are really pleased with the amount raised. We had a lot of generous pledges from local businesses that helped us reach the total and the Littleborough residents were really great in donating as well.”

Held in May, the Dragon Boat Race saw 30 teams compete in races across Hollingworth Lake.

Becky added: “It was a great event and there was lots for us to do. The weather was really nice as well so that helped. This was the first year that we got involved but we have already said we will do it again next year.”

Becky and her team “BES – Beauties and the Beast” finished 18th out of 30 teams.

“I have done a lot of fundraising in the past for things like cancer because of the effect it has had on family and friends and I just thought this would be something different to do for a good cause,” added Becky.
