Broadfield Community Primary School pupils star in CBeebies show Swashbuckle

Date published: 14 October 2015

Pupils from Broadfield Community Primary School in Rochdale were given then chance to star in the CBeebies television show Swashbuckle and made their television debut on Sunday 11 October.

Year 2 pupils Sana Abasi, Zain Mansoor, Rafael Morais and Lisandra Gomes Da Mata were chosen to take part in the children’s gameshow, with pupils from year 1 and year 2 in the audience to cheer them on.

Broadfield Community Primary School Deputy Headteacher Gemma Holt said: “The children had to take part in a series of challenges alongside presenter, Gemma Hunt, to rescue the jewels from the Pirates on the show. The children worked through a series of obstacle courses as a team and collected all of the jewels to win.”

Broadfield Community Primary School was invited to be on the show after being contacted by the BBC. Following initial contact with the school, a team from the show paid a visit to the staff and students and did an activity morning to see if any of them would like to take part in the same kind of activities on the show.

Mrs Holt added: “The children who took part were confident, enthusiastic and worked brilliantly together. They smiled the whole way through and loved being part of the Swashbuckle show. They represented Broadfield brilliantly and we were so proud of them.

“The children had a brilliant day. They loved working with Gemma Hunt and even the nasty Pirates on the show.”
