Lucy Physick sets her sights on Miss Lancashire beauty title

Date published: 14 October 2015

Lucy Physick, 22, is among the finalists in the Miss Lancashire title set to be voted on by judges this weekend, with the overall winner granted a direct pass to the final of Miss England.

The fine art graduate works as a visual merchandiser dressing mannequins and designing window displays, at Beales department store in Rochdale.

Lucy has raised more than £3,000 for charity since 2013, when she was crowned Miss Bolton, in her home town.

She has used her high profile to raise awareness for good causes such as Variety, The Children’s Charity, the RSPCA and Cancer Research.

Now with the Miss Lancashire vote beckoning on 18 October, Lucy is hoping for a more prominent platform to continue her good work and provide a publicity boost to a greater number of local causes.

“Part of the beauty queen role is getting out in the community - its very charity orientated,” she said.

“It’s also about being a role model for younger girls and breaking the stereotypes of these sorts of contests. It’s about being the best you can be and it gives people a different idea of the typical beauty queen.

“It’s not all about looking good. You go to events and support other people. You need to be proactive and get out in your community to help.”

Lucy, who previously reached the final of the Miss England contest in 2013, is looking forward to meeting the other contestants.

“The experience is amazing, you gain so much from it. People think you have to be really confident to enter these kinds of things but you don’t – you gain it while you’re there.”
