There will be a change in the way that RBH homes in the Cloverhall neighbourhood are managed from today (Friday 9 October).
For many years the neighbourhood has been managed by the Cloverhall Tenants Association Co-operative (CTAC) on behalf of RBH but, from today, RBH will be responsible for letting homes, making repairs and improvements and all the other housing management services previously carried out by CTAC.
Gareth Swarbrick, Chief Executive of RBH, said: “We have reluctantly taken the decision to end our management agreement with the Cloverhall Co-operative. Unfortunately, due to a number of issues, we were left with no choice but to step in and bring the management of services back to RBH. We have done this to ensure that tenants receive the service they deserve and that the neighbourhood is managed in an effective and efficient way.
“We have been working more closely with and giving additional support to the co-operative since August 2014 and have made great efforts to support them in making the necessary improvements. This has included appointing independent consultants, including the recognised industry leaders the Confederation of Co-operative Housing (CCH), to work alongside them.
“We feel that it is in the best interests of tenants that we end the agreement with the co-operative and take responsibility for the direct running of the neighbourhood.
“Since becoming a mutual society in 2013 RBH has received significant national recognition for the way it works with customers to transform lives and improve communities and we are looking forward to forming a positive partnership with Cloverhall tenants.
“We will be happy to work again with Cloverhall Co-operative in the future if they are able to address the concerns we have raised.”
Nic Bliss, from CCH, said: "We have worked closely with Cloverhall and RBH to try and resolve the issues which have been identified at the co-operative, however, as these issues remain unresolved, we are fully in support of the decision RBH has taken . We recognise RBH’s ongoing commitment to working with the Cloverhall community in the future.”
RBH has put in place a support plan to ensure the new arrangements run smoothly, with tenants receiving help and advice from Neighbourhood Housing teams.
