Cronkeyshaw trenches being used as rubbish dump, say residents

Travellers are using the sunken barriers at Cronkeyshaw Common as a rubbish dump, say residents.
Rochdale Online reported eariler this month that the Council has dug what have been described as ‘trenches’ to deter Travellers from gaining access to Cronkeyshaw Common.

Mark Widdup, Director of Neighbourhoods at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We have spoken with the travellers currently on the common and provided them with bin bags to help keep the area tidy. These have been used but we will ensure all rubbish is removed from the area after they leave.”
