Rochdale resident Stewart Pearson caught up in flood disaster in Thailand
Date published: 21 September 2015
Stewart Pearson, from Bamford, who frequently spends up to six months of the year in Thailand has been caught up in the flooding in Pattaya.
Located in central Thailand, Pattaya has been hit with flooding following a tropical storm which formed on Thursday 10 September in the South China Sea. The storm then hit Thailand on Monday 14 September.
Speaking about the flooding, Stewart said: “It’s hell but we keep going. I got caught in the storm and at one stage, as I was going through lightening and water, my car lifted out of the water. I’m glad there was a McDonalds a few yards up the road where I just managed to get out of the water and park up for seven hours.”
On Thursday (17 September) Thai Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda declared Pattaya a flood disaster area.
