Castleton councillors Billy Sheerin, Jean Hornby and Aasim Rashid have congratulated Heywood and Middleton MP Liz McInnes on becoming the Shadow Minister for Local Government and Communities on the Labour front bench in the House of Commons.
The councillors met with Liz on Saturday (19 September) to congratulate her on her new duties and to discuss issues within the borough.
Speaking about Liz and their meeting, Councillor Rashid said: “I congratulate Liz on her new responsibilities and in the meantime, I emphasise that the Rochdale Council Leader should work closely with the MP to sort the current issues in the Borough, such as more financial cuts in the budget in upcoming financial years, RBH issues and the current refugee crisis.
“Liz was very keen to address these issues and she is looking forward to working very closely with Rochdale Council leadership.”
