Liz McInnes appointed Shadow Minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government

Date published: 21 September 2015

Liz McInnes, MP for Heywood and Middleton, has been appointed to Labour’s frontbench as a Shadow Minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Ms McInnes said: "It is a huge honour and responsibility to be called to serve on Labour’s frontbench and I was delighted to accept. I am particularly excited to be working in the Communities and Local Government team.

"We know only too well in Heywood and Middleton that local government is being savagely cut by the Tories, and that these cuts are disproportionately harsh on councils in the North of England. I look forward to holding the government to account on these issues and helping to lead the fightback in Parliament."
