Littleborough soldier's mobile memorial

Date published: 20 September 2015

Graham Poole, owner of haulage company Graham Poole Transport has had images of Littleborough soldier, Cpl Jack Stanley, painted onto one of his firm's trucks.

26-year old Cpl Stanley was wounded in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2012 and died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham shortly afterwards.

The truck was on display on Lodge Street last Sunday (13 September) so family and friends could view it.

Jack's sister, Rachel Stanley, said "It's amazing that three years after Jack lost his fight to stay with us, he is remembered this way. Graham Poole is a legend.

"What a lovely tribute to our Jack. A great afternoon spent with friends and neighbours, courtesy of hospitality from the management and staff at the Falcon. Today has proved that when the chips are down, the community spirit kicks in. Littleborough excels at this always. Thank you so much to everyone for coming today. We appreciate it more than you know."
