St Michael’s Church Summer Fair
St Michael’s Church in Middleton held their annual summer fair on Saturday (19 September) to raise money for church funds.
Held at St Michael’s School, the event included a bouncy castle, football, tattoos, a BBQ and a variety of stalls. Entertainment was also provided by St Michael’s church band.
Church Reader Dorothy Haynes said: “I think the event is good because it brings together both congregations of the church. On a Sunday morning we have a service, which the older people attend, and then in the evening we have a service which a lot of the younger people attend, so it is nice for everyone to come together at something like this.”
Money raised from the event will go back to the church and will help the church run activities.
Church Treasurer Joan Ernest said: “We do events throughout the year to raise funds that we can use to put on activities, so whatever we raise will help us with things like that.”
Organisers didn’t set a fundraising total for the event but hope to match the £1,100 raised at last year’s fair.
Organiser Lesley Beresford said: “If we could match what we did last year then that would be great.”
