Day of action targets most wanted offenders

Date published: 22 September 2015

Officers from across GMP’s 11 divisions are targeting wanted offenders with support from specialist operations officers today (Tuesday 22 September).

The individuals being targeted will be some of each divisions most wanted offenders as part of Operation Olympus.

Divisions will be assisted on the day by specialist units such as tactical aid, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) intercept teams and the dog and mounted units.

Chief Inspector Chris Hill, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “Operation Olympus is a force wide operation which is all about targeting those criminals who continue to cause harm and fear within our communities despite already being wanted by police.

“There will be significant activity in each division across Greater Manchester and we will be utilising a number of resources to make the operation a success.

“Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our communities and I want to assure everybody that during this day of action there will be nowhere to hide for the individuals that we are seeking.”

If you have information on a wanted person please contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
