Ella Chadwick set to take part Mini Run in Sheffield

Date published: 19 September 2015

After taking her first steps unaided just three months ago, Ella Chadwick is now set to take part in the Morrisons Mini Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield on Sunday 27 September.

The eight-year-old, from Rochdale, was born with the rare congenital nephrotic syndrome, which resulted in having both of her kidneys removed.

She received a life-saving kidney from her gran, and celebrated her one year ‘transplant birthday’ by taking on the Morrisons Mini Great Manchester Run in May this year. Raising money for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, she walked the 2km course in Heaton Park with a frame.

Next weekend Ella will travel to Sheffield to be honorary starter for the Mini run, before joining the participants to complete the 1.5km course in Sheffield.

Ella’s mum, Karen Hughes said: “Ella is so excited to take part in the Morrisons Mini Great Yorkshire Run. She loved the event in Manchester and got so much support on the way round. She can’t wait to be a part of it again.”
