Pennines Township Committee meeting as it happened

An update from Greater Manchester Police is first.

Following requests from the last meeting, police state that they have not yet been able to undertake a traffic study on Huddersfield Road and Ladyhouse Lane but hope to do one in the future.

There are no questions in the Open Forum.

A Flood Pathfinder presentation is next.

The Floor Pathfinder scheme was established by DEFRA in 2013 and following comprehensive bidding, Rochdale Council was successful in achieving the scheme. The scheme was used in parts of Heywood and Wardleworth and ended in March 2015, but following good practices, it is hoped to be rolled out across the borough.

A pathfinder for Littleborough is hopefully the next step.

Councillors raised their concerns for residents living on Calder Avenue, who are often sufferings with flooding issues.

A presentation in relation to the Budget Challenge is next.

The Council has produced a four-minute animation to explain the current budget challenge. Rochdale Council has faced significant financial challenges since 2011.

The Savings Proposals for 2016/2017 and 2017/2108 is next.

The Council currently has a budget gap of £37million to bridge over the next two years. Proposals have been presented to councillors in relation to the reconfiguration of the youth provision and the play provision. This could save around £280,000.

The Pennines Township Blue Plaque Scheme is next.

The purpose of the report is to set out the guidance criteria, which can be used as a basis for making decisions about future nominations for commemorative blue plaques located within the Pennines Township area.

A report on the Armed Forces is next.

The purpose of the report to Councillors is to inform them of the work carried out in relation to the Armed Forces family since the Council signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant in November 2012.

The Sale of Land Adjoining the former Ladybarn Public House, Milnrow is next.

The purpose of the report is to seek approval for the Township to release for sale the Council’s interest in an area of vacant land adjoining the former Ladybarn Public House.

It is understood that the land is to be released to a property owner for market value to help with a development.
