Man stabbed on Church Street, Littleborough

Date published: 14 September 2015

A 21-year-old man was stabbed whilst attempting to break up a fight between a group of men in Bar 409 on Church Street, Littleborough before he himself was assaulted and stabbed.

The incident occurred at 2.30am on Sunday 30 August 2015. The victim was taken to hospital and had a two inch wound to his shoulder stitched up. Medical staff who examined the victims wound believe it was inflicted by a knife.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

PC Chris Eardley said of GMP’s Rochdale Division said: “There is absolutely no reason for anybody to be carrying a weapon like a knife on a night out.

“Thankfully the victim’s wound was not so serious that it became life threatening but it could easily have been a different story.

“We would like to appeal to members of the public who were present at the time to come forward and help identify those who were involved.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 8549 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
