Collecting for Calais refugees

Date published: 07 September 2015

John Gillighan and Thomas McNeeney are filling a van with donations and driving to Calais to give much needed supplies direct to those who need them on Friday 18 September.

Thomas said: “We’re storing everything above the Oxford on Whitworth Road, just drop me a message when you're thinking of dropping things off and I'll make sure someone is expecting you.

“90% of the refugees in Calais are boys and men, so we need more men’s stuff than anything else.

“It's a drop in the ocean but it's much more practical than a social media rant.

"What we do need is donations, anything you can spare, enough to fill a van full and if there's more than that then we'll do two trips.

“In addition to what's on the list, tinned or dried foods and bottled water would be fantastic.”

Thomas and John said: "Contact us direct if you want to make a donation, we've got more than enough space to store things until our trip and any help would be truly amazing."
