Celebrity Chef Kevin Woodford cooked on the celebrity food stage, helped by the Mayoress of Rochdale, Cecile Biant.

Taking to the stage at 1pm, the pair each cooked a rice dish and a beef dish.

Kevin said: “It was fabulous. It was great fun and it was great crowd who seemed to really enjoy it. The Mayoress was fabulous and she did really well.”

This was the first time in Rochdale for Kevin, who is known for his time on cookery programme ‘Ready Steady Cook’.

Kevin described the festival as “brilliant” and praised the council for putting the event together.

He added: “It is great that a council puts something like this on for the local community and it is something that really brings the community together. But the event is not just for the local community, there are people here who have followed my career and have come from all over and that is great.”

Following his successful appearance at the festival, Kevin has said that he would come back if asked.

“I would love to come back if they asked me. It is a beautiful part of the country,” said Kevin.
