Song and dance on the community stage at the Feel Good Festival

Date published: 04 September 2015

The first day Feel Good Festival saw a number of local acts on the community stage. First on stage were the Bollywood Dancers and with a dancer missing, members of Roch Valley Radio stepped in to perform their best belly dancing moves.

Alexsandra was performing for the first time at the festival. When asked how she found the experience, she said; "I really enjoyed it and it was a lot of fun.” Alexsandra performed belly dancing in the morning with a Zumba performance in the afternoon.

A group of ladies doing hula hooping from Ladies Only Gym, took to the stage. Michelle Matthews, manager of Ladies Only, said of the festival: “It’s great, it’s the best event of the year. It’s brilliant being outside and being fit and healthy.” Michelle has been performing at the Feel Good Festival since it began.

Later in the day Gem O’Reilly performed a variety of songs, which included her own songs, “Love Potion” and “I have found me.”

After the set she explained it was her first time at the festival, although she often performs at other events such as weddings. She said: “I loved it, it’s great to play a part in the community.”

Gem is currently working on her third EP, which will be released in spring 2016.

Next up were the Oakenhoof Cloggers, who treated the audience to traditional Lancashire folk songs and dances.

Members of Roch Valley Radio returned for the Roch Valley Dance Off, with mascots Blur and Mystique dancing against Desmond the Dragon and Brad Paul. Both teams took turns to show off their moves and had the audience on their feet doing the YMCA. Desmond the Dragon and Brad Paul were crowned winners.
