Littleborough Oakenhoof at Manchester Pride
Littleborough Oakenhoof wowed the crowds at the Manchester Pride parade last Saturday and walked away with the prize for best Walking Entry.
The folk arts group perform at numerous events in Littleborough and co-organise the Rushbearing Festival with Littleborough Events & Associations Forum. This year was the first time the group have performed at Manchester Pride.
Manchester Pride is an annual festival celebrating Manchester's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture and life and attracts thousands of visitors to the city. This year, the parade was led by Sir Ian McKellen.
Oakenhoof performed a maypole routine on the parade with the team dressed in brightly coloured crocheted shorts and skirts.
Paul Woodhead, Oakenhoof Squire, said: "We were delighted to part of the pride parade, and that was reward enough. But to actually win as the best walking entry was absolutely remarkable. We're all really exhilarated by it and considering how we might be able to include the Littleborough's Rushcart next year."
Oakenhoof will be performing at the Rochdale Feel Good Festival this weekend.
