Visually impaired Azeem Amir overcomes the odds to achieve excellent GCSE results

Matthew Moss student Azeem Amir didn't allow his visual impairment to get in the way of his studies and his hard work paid off with excellent GCSE results - he got all As and Bs.

Azeem, who is going to continue his studies at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “As I am visually impaired it’s been a real struggle, but with the help of my parents, staff and friends I have achieved better than I could have hoped for.

“I am going to Sixth Form then to university to study law.” 

Lloyd Griffiths got five A*s and an A, he too is going to the Sixth Form College, he said: “Matthew Moss has been good, but I am now ready for the next step.”

Ridaa Barber gained A*s and As, she is going to the Sixth Form College and hopes to study medicine at university.

Zunera Dildar, who got A*s and an A and is going to Sixth Form College, said: “I have enjoyed my time at Matthew Moss and want to carry on my studies to do medicine.”

Rebecca Higson got four A*s, four As and a B, she said: “The teachers have been really helpful, I want to study music, I don’t know what I want to do eventually.”

Daniel Harvey gained five As and three Bs and is also going to the Sixth Form College.

Mark Moorhouse, Headteacher said: “It’s been another good year for us we are really pleased with the results.”
