Heywood Police Station held an open day on Saturday (8 August) as a way of inviting the community in to meet officers and tour the premises.
Organised by PCSO Jodie Barlow, the open day included police uniforms for children to dress up in, police cars, face painting, the police band, craft activities and tours of the station.
PCSO Barlow said: “This is the first event that I have organised here and it has been a roaring success. We just wanted to do something to invite the community into the station and give them a chance to meet us and see what policing is about.”
Councillor Peter Rush, who campaigned for the station to be re-opened, was at the event and was pleased to see the station busy.
He said: “I campaigned for this for a long time and it is a great success to see it like this today. Its is a huge success.”
It is hoped that future events at the station will take place.
