Middleton Craft and Food Market Family Fun Day

Date published: 09 August 2015

The Middleton Craft and Food Market held their craft event on Saturday (8 August) and incorporated it with a family fun day.

The event was organised to give somewhere for local crafts people to show off their products.

Organiser Amanda Rix said: “We started in May and it was set up as a new event and is for the people of Middleton to have a place where they can show off and sell their products.

“We get people coming from all across the borough and get people coming from outside of the borough, but it was originally started as a thing for the Middleton community.”

The event included a number of stalls from hand made jewellery, books, cakes and cards as well as activities for children.

“We decided to incorporate the family fun day aspect so there were things for the children to do as well. Parents can leave their children to do some of the activities and get have a look around,” said Amanda.

Activities for children included face painting, fairground rides, games and glitter tattoos.

A tombola that was organised by Glynis Hughes, a member of the organising team  – the proceeds of which will be split between the NSPCC and the British Heart Foundation.

Events are planned to take place once a month and it is hoped that the events will continue next year.

Liz Donlan, a member of the organising team, said: “I have never known a craft fair to have a waiting list and this one does. I think that shows how good and how popular the event is.”

Amanda added: “I hope we can go into next year because the response we get is phenomenal.”
