Sky dive raises over £36,000 for charity

Date published: 08 August 2015

Amjad Haq, from Wardleworth, was one of 37 people who took part in a sky dive organised to raise money for SKT Welfare’s Al Huda Hospital in Northern Syria that raised £36,402,12.

“I signed up to the sky dive without thinking about the actual challenge,” said Amjad. “As I am scared of heights, I don’t even go on fairground rides, but a friend kept badgering me to sign up. I am glad that I signed up as it was an awesome experience for a beautiful cause.”

All proceeds raised from the sky dive will go to help a hospital in Northern Syria.

Amjad added: “The money will be used to cover the costs of running one ward in the Al Huda Hospital for one year. Furthermore, the money raised will also be used to provide one family a room in SKT Welfare’s ‘Springs of Hope’ Family Centre in Turkey.”

Amjad, who raised £1,245, decided to help the charity as they operate with a 100% donation policy.

He said: “I chose the charity SKT Welfare as it is one of the very few charities today which is transparent and operates a 100% donation policy. SKT Welfare does not outsource and takes full responsibility for delivering aid, something which makes the charity unique.”

SKT Welfare is a UK registered charity, founded in 2008, dedicated to the delivery of humanitarian aid and solutions regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief. Its aim is to help relieve the suffering of the world’s poorest communities.

Amjad added: “I am thrilled to have been a part of such a successful event.”
