Rochdale Circle Norden & Bamford Pilot Programme

Date published: 07 August 2015

The official launch of Rochdale Circle Norden & Bamford Pilot Programme around social isolation in the area took place this week at Norden Community School.

Over 100 people attended the event and stallholders and exhibitors reported numerous of enquiries and health checks.

Alongside the information and health stalls, attendees enjoyed reflexology, demonstrations of zumba, line dancing and a performance from the carers choir.

Debbie Kinsella who is coordinating the pilot, said: “ We are thrilled with the turnout at the launch event, and the response we have already had from older people in the area. We know with the support of local people they can help design a great service that helps get people happy, healthy and socially active.”

Director of Circle, Mark Wynn was also a happy man adding: “We are really pleased with the start the new Norden & Bamford pilot has made. We have had a fantastic reception both in terms of people wanting to benefit from the programme and people wanting to volunteer. We want this pilot to be a flagship for what can be achieved in the borough.”

Circle will host a regular Monday lunchtime Tea & Talk Health event at the Red Butterfly Café, in the old Norden Library.

Each week there will be a different guest to give advice on various health and wellbeing matters.

Monday evenings 4-7pm will also see a drop-in service at the new Norden Library where older people can pick up information and advice on the help and services that are available to them in the area, as well as simply having a chat.

Other events and activities are also planned around Norden, Bamford and Oakenrod as the pilot programme grows and develops.
