Family fun day raises £1,972 for Macmillan
Date published: 05 August 2015
A family fun day held at The Crown Inn, Middleton, has raised £1,972.79 for Macmillan.
Organsied by Jacqueline Roach, the event included a bouncy castle, face painting and food.
To help raise the money, Jacqueline also had her head shaved.
She said: “I organised the fun day because I decided to shave my head for Macmillan and wanted to raise as much as possible. The weather was rubbish, but people still came out to support us.”
Jacqueline decided on the fundraising in memory of her sister, Susan, and to support her sister Beverley.
Jacqueline added: “In 2001 my eldest sister Susan passed away from leukaemia and then in December 2014 my youngest sister Beverley was diagnosed with breast cancer, so this was my way of supporting them both.”
Macmillan is a source of support and help with all of the things that people affected by cancer want and need. They help patients who live with cancer, and also help carers, families and communities. Macmillan funds nurses and other specialist health care professionals and also builds cancer centres.
