Culture-themed day helps students connect

Students with the culture inspired artwork project
Soon-to-be students got a taste of college life recently when they visited Hopwood Hall College’s Rochdale campus.
The students, who are all going to be studying graphics or art from September at the College, spent the day completing a number of activities. This included working in teams to produce artwork based on the theme ‘cultures’.
Using the theme as their muse, the teams had to complete an individual part of an outlined figure, which they then put together to form a complete piece of work. By the end of the session the figure had been created using inspiration from cultures ranging from those found in Britain to Africa.
The event was designed to help the new students learn more about what they will be studying and to meet their new classmates before term starts. Sharon Drysdale, graphics tutor at Hopwood Hall College, commented: “All of the students had a great day.”
