£4,000 worth of tools stolen from 1stChoiceAutoCentre

Date published: 16 July 2015

1stChoiceAutoCentre on Milnrow Road was broken into with the offenders making off with up to £4,000 worth of tools.

CCTV from the centre shows a Black Vauxhall driving down Milnrow Road and pulling up outside the garage. The offenders made their way through the fence at the garage and kicked in the office door.

Toni Lancaster, whose dad owns the garage, said: “Our CCTV shows the first attempt happening at about 4:10am and then after that they left. The footage then shows them coming back at 4:38am and shows them actually getting into the office.”

Once in the office, the two male offenders stole a number of expensive tools with a value of up to £4,000.

Toni added: “We have been open since it happened but on Monday we had no tools so we couldn’t really do anything and then we couldn’t let the cars go in case there was evidence on them. On Tuesday the police came and spoke to us and the forensic team came.”

It is understood that the forensic team were able to recover nine fingerprints and a footprint.

“The only problem is, with it being a garage, they could be anyone’s fingerprints so we have to wait and see,” added Toni.

Police confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.
