Appeal for stolen tools to be returned

Date published: 16 July 2015

A white van was stolen from Royle Barn Road as the owner worked on a nearby telecoms box at around 10.30pm on Tuesday 7 July. At the time, a number of tools were inside, including computer cards, a tool box, batteries and other equipment used to work in telecoms.

On Thursday 9 July, the van was recovered near Entwistle Road following a robbery where a handbag was stolen from a 58-year-old woman.

The bag was later recovered.

Now images of the equipment taken from the van have been issued.

Detective Constable Russ Clarke said: “The owner is desperate to have his tools returned to him as he is a self-employed telecoms engineer and without them, he cannot work.

“The owner has offered a reward for the recovery and safe return of the equipment and I would ask anyone who may have been given or sold the tools under suspicious circumstances to contact police. “

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8424 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
