Ear we go – students design logo for clinic

Date published: 10 July 2015

Hopwood Hall College students were given the opportunity to design a logo for a new ear care clinic in Rochdale.

The students, who are all studying graphic design, were set the challenge by Kath Scully from the Rochdale Ear Care Clinic, as she was keen to develop a logo for the new company. The students were delighted to help and after receiving the brief from Kath, set about designing some logos.

Only one design could be chosen as the overall winner though, and that honour went to Sam Pickering, 16, from Rochdale. His clear and professional design impressed his tutors and the client.

Kath Scully, from the Rochdale Ear Care Clinic said: “As a new business it is really important to present the right image to clients and choosing the right business logo is crucial. Working with the students at Hopwood Hall College was a brilliant experience. They were enthusiastic and bursting with good ideas. I chose Sam’s logo because it fit the brief perfectly. I’m really pleased and wish Sam and all his fellow students every success as they continue into the second year of their course.”

Hopwood Hall College’s Sharon Drysdale, added: “It is always an advantage to students to get involved in live briefs. It gives them the opportunity to deal with clients and gain real experience of the design industry as well as providing design work for their professional portfolios. This project has been a valuable experience for all the students and they have enjoyed producing and presenting the logo designs.”
