73-year-old woman punched in the face

Date published: 09 July 2015

A 73-year-old woman was punched in the face on Arundel Avenue, Rochdale on Saturday (4 July) afternoon when she was walking her dogs.

Jerry Lloyd, the victim’s son, said: “My mum was walking the dogs on Sandbrook Park on Saturday, as she always does, and on the way back she was approached by a male and a female. The male said that my mum’s dogs should be on a lead and then told the woman to knock her head off.”

The female then punched the elderly lady in the face, knocking her to the ground.

The two then fled the scene.

Jerry added: “She was knocked to the ground and I think she was left in a state of shock. She has bruising around her eye but she is generally alright now.”

Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for help in tracing the two people.

The male is described as white, with short hair, 6ft, late 30s to early 40s and of slim build. At the time, he was wearing a sky blue t-shirt and was walking his dog.

The female is described as white, with long auburn hair, 5’4, late 30s to early 40s and of slim build. At the time she was wearing red trousers and a red top and had a silver stud in her tongue.

“I have had a lot of people getting in touch with me telling me that they want to help find these people so whatever I can do to find them, I’ll do it. It is not normal to punch a 73-year-old woman in the face for no reason,” said Jerry.

No arrests have yet been made and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
