PE News

The Greater Manchester Summer Games were held at various locations throughout Greater Manchester on Tuesday. Representing Rochdale were St Cuthbert’s Dodgeball team and St Cuthbert’s Quadkids athletics teams. All pupils gave an excellent account of themselves.

Although the overall standings haven’t been announced yet, Harvey Holden in Year 7 came 2ns in the overall boys competition, well done Harvey.

Art News

Congratulations to Martyna Chudzinska and Edmilsa Cassandra who have attended Icon painting classes for many weeks with Mrs Barszczewska.

The results are stunning and will be displayed in the Department.

Mrs Hamilton would like to thank the two students for their attention to detail and perseverance whilst undertaking this very specialist work, and also Mrs Barszczewska for her expert tuition.

GCSE Results

Year 11 GCSE Results will be available for collection by students on Thursday 20 August from 9:00am. If you cannot come to collect them and would like your results posting to your home address, a SAE can be left at reception for your results to be posted home.

Alternatively, if you want another member of your family to collect them on your behalf, please write a note giving your permission for that person to collect your results, which they need to bring into school with them together with proof of identification.

Year 10 GCSE Results may also be collected by students from 11:00am, if not collected these will be given out to students in September.

Expressive Arts

News: Auditions have been taking place this week for St Cuthbert's production of 'Jack and The Beanstalk'. Pupils have been showing off their vocal talent with the audition song 'Don't Stop Believing'.

Despite the nerves pupils have performed with great confidence. There has been real excitement around the Music block every lunch time which has been packed with students ready to give of their best.

Thanks also to our Expressive Arts Leaders: Laura Dawe, Joe Maloney and Aiden Taylor-Dickinson for their help in co-ordinating the younger pupils. Call backs will be done during the final week of term and a cast list announced before the Summer break. Watch this space.

Year 7 News

The Year 7 Form star this week is Joao Soares in 7.2 for excellent all round effort.
All year 7 classes have enjoyed a school retreat this week. All pupils were invited to Rochdale cricket club where they covered a Personal, Social and Health Education programme.

Students took part in drama presentations, prayers, a ‘Jeremy Kyle’ style debate, and learnt about relationships and why they are important.

Student Niall Cuniffe claimed; “It was a really good day, the Jeremy Kyle part was the best as it was really funny but there was a deeper meaning which helped us to understand about relationships”.
