CCTV image released after man punched in pub

Date published: 08 July 2015

Police investigating after a man was punched in the face at the Cemetery Hotel in Rochdale have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

The incident happened at around 1.30am on Saturday 8 March 2015 at the pub on Bury Road, Rochdale.

A 25-year-old man was sat in the pool room drinking his pint, when he was approached by a man who began to shout at and act aggressively towards him.

The offender then punched the man in the face before he walked out of the premises.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, with short black hair. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt with a white logo and navy blue shorts. He was clean shaven and he spoke with an Irish accent.

The victim suffered a fractured eye socket during the attack and he has since had to have a metal plate fitted.

Police have now released a CCTV still of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault.

Constable David Harrison from GMP’s Rochdale division said: “We are keen to speak to the man in the image as well as anybody else who may have information about the incident.

“If you were in the pub at the time this incident took place, or perhaps saw the offender walking out afterwards, to call us and tell us what you saw.

“Likewise if you recognise or are in fact the man in the image then please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police in Rochdale on 0161 856 8424 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
