Residents work together

Date published: 22 June 2015

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) returned to clean the remaining half of the back ally of the Maldon and Ipswich Streets. This back ally is divided by a wall in the middle.

To clean the front from the side of Milkstone Road, it took two hours last week. Some members and residents cleaned the other half of the back alley near the play area but it needed more cleaning.

A resident who just moved into one of the properties and her children also joined in cleaning and decided to join the REAG from next Saturday.

Another resident offered his services to deliver the leaflets in all the houses in these two streets.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE Secretary of the REAG, said: "We were very pleased to see the residents coming forward not only to clean the back alleys but also to take responsibility for keeping it clean and tidy in future.

“REAG is now planning to make these back alleys into flowery, safe play areas for children and a place for social get together for the residents in good weather.

“Residents are happy to work together and become environment champions of these two streets."
