Police launch week long crackdown on wanted offenders
Police in Greater Manchester are this week (22-26 June) launching a crackdown on wanted offenders.
More than 150 specialist officers will support the Force’s 11 divisions who will be targeting wanted offenders for domestic abuse, burglary and other serious offences as part of Operation Olympus.
Divisions will be aided by specialist units including tactical aid, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) intercept teams and the mounted unit.
Operation lead, Greater Manchester Police’s Superintendent Craig Thompson said: “This operation is all about targeting those criminals who cause the most harm to innocent members of the community.
“The safety of our residents is paramount and we will make sure that during this week of action, there will be nowhere to hide for those who think that criminality is acceptable.
“We will be using every resource available to find these criminals in and bring them to justice for their crimes.”
GMP will be tweeting live updates from the operation throughout the week, follow #OpOlympus from the GMP Twitter accounts. Find your local Twitter account by visiting www.gmp.police.uk/socialmedia.
If you have information on a wanted person please contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
