Man attacked with concrete slab

Date published: 18 June 2015

A man suffered a serious head injury after he was attacked with a concrete slab.

It happened between 4.45pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday 17 June 2015 on Milkstone Road, near to the junction with Station Road.

Police were called following reports by the ambulance service that a man had sustained a serious head injury. When officers attended, they found a 32-year-old man who had sustained the injury after he was struck in the head with a concrete slab.

Inquiries have established that prior to be attacked, the man may have been a passenger in a Toyota Avensis taxi that was involved in an altercation with another car on Milkstone Road.

This second car is described as being silver with two Asian men inside.

Police are now appealing to anyone who has information about the attack or who may have witnessed this altercation between the occupants of the two cars to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Kirsten Buggy said: "The victim has suffered a serious head injury as a result of this nasty assault remains in hospital for treatment

"It is therefore vital we trace whomever was responsible for this attack and I would therefore urge anyone with information to come forward.

"In particular, we are appealing for witnesses in the area who may have either seen the assault itself, or the incident that took place between the taxi and the occupants of the silver car, to come forward."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
