Award ceremony at Deeplish Community Centre

Local residents who attended Deeplish Community Centre’s Skills Development Project accredited courses were rewarded with an awards ceremony at Deeplish Community Centre on Saturday 13 June.

Mayor of Rochdale Surinder Biant and Mayoress Cecile Biant presented certificates together with local councillors.

Centre Manager Sohail Ahmad said: “The main aim of this project was to train people to gain jobs opportunities, ICT skills, offering informal and formal learning opportunities to develop basic skills in driving, E learning, passenger assistant literacy, confidence building, employment support in terms of looking for a job, applying ad accessing further learning programmes and activities.

“We are very proud that we have not only achieved but exceeded with success and we look forward similar projects future to support local community members."

Local councillors who visit centre almost every week said, it is encouraging to see Deeplish offering such support and assistance to local residents.

Shaista Nawaz said: “The centre is very friendly and provides valuable courses which are helpful for our future.”

Aisha Israr commented: “Deeplish Centre is playing very important role in the community.”

Chairman of Deeplish Community Centre, Mohammed Saleem thanked everyone and said: “We are proud to achieve our mission and continue to provide lifelong learning skills and courses for the benefit of communities. We are proud for our diverse work and we continue to develop this further.”

This project was funded by ESF through WEA Community Learning Grants.
