REAG continues its voluntary clean-up campaign

Date published: 17 June 2015

Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) and the residents of Ipswich and Maldon Street, Deeplish, Rochdale, spent two hours to clean their back-alley.

Prior to the clean-up, on Friday, 12 June, members of REAG knocked on the doors of residents and asked them to join members of REAG with the clean up on Saturday. The response was very positive and encouraging and many residents.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary of the Group said, “We are thankful to residents and Rochdale Council's Environment Services for their continued support.

“We would like to make it clear to the members of the public that we are voluntary and community group and encourage residents to come out to clean the areas around their properties and back-alleys.

“I receive phone calls asking us to clean back-alleys and areas surroundingn properties under the impression that we are paid employees or funded by the Council or other organisations to do the clean ups.

“I would like to make it clear that this is not the case.

“Please take responsibility to keep in and around your properties clean and tidy by working in partnership with the agencies, organisations, Rochdale Council Environment Service and the residents.”
