Kirsty Almeida set for Feel Good Festival appearance

Date published: 15 June 2015

Singer-songwriter Kirsty Almeida has confirmed an appearance at Rochdale Feel Good Festival. The Gibraltar-born former Middleton resident and her five-piece band will take to the main stage on Saturday 5 September.

Renowned for her circus-like mix of blues and jazzy pop, Kirsty is one of the most exciting and unique singer-songwriters to emerge in recent times. She has collaborated with the likes of Youth and the Guy Barker Orchestra as well as writing and recording music for films. Her latest album ‘DejaVoodu’ was released last year.

Kirsty has also worked with Robbie Williams’ songwriter Guy Chambers and her collaboration with fellow Manchester resident Mr Scruff resulted in the hugely successful remix - Pickled Spider.

Backed by her band, Kirsty has won rave reviews for her performances at festivals such as Glastonbury, Manchester Jazz Festival, Lovebox and The Secret Garden Party as well as many international shows.

It will be a Rochdale return for Kirsty – she performed a memorable set on the main stage back in 2010, and said she is excited to be returning: “I loved Rochdale Feel Good Festival the first time, I’m looking forward to it even more now.

"I’ve had a child and took some time off to enjoy watching him grow, but I've missed performing so this is an exciting comeback for me.

"The crowds in the north west are my favourite. This festival in particular does what it does like no other - real care goes into the Feel Good Festival which makes it a delight for us.

"I'm bringing a troupe of very talented musicians and some exciting new material."

Kirsty Almeida will be joined by the previously announced bands The South and Toploader plus more still to be confirmed.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council together with sponsorship from local businesses.
