92-year-old man burgled in Shawclough

A 92-year-old man has been the victim of a burglary in Shawclough, Rochdale.

At 11.50am on Thursday 4 June 2015 the offender went into the victim’s house on Alicia Drive and stole his wallet, which contained a large amount of cash. Upon hearing a noise, the victim went to see what the commotion was and the offender pushed past him and fled the house on foot.

The man is described as white, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a high-viz jacket.

Detective Sergeant Louise Ashurst of Rochdale division said: “The victim is an elderly and vulnerable man and has been left extremely shaken by what has happened.

“If you saw a man behaving suspiciously in the area, or running away from a house at the time of the burglary, I would urge you to contact police.

“I would also like to remind people to keep their doors locked and their windows closed and to contact your Local Neighbourhood Policing team if you have any concerns.”
